Congrats to ALL Homer areas Graduates! Due to the the Homer High Graduation event on Tuesday May 14 at 7pm, the follow Community Rec programs will be cancelled or moved to an alternate location:
Morning Basketball: MON (5/13) & WED (5/15) at HERC GYM

City of Homer Youth Basketball Program Summer 2024 This program is for youth who have just finished 3-6 grade and want to learn how to play basketball and have fun. The program will include fundamental work, involving dribbling, passing and shooting. They will be taught three different skills a day, each skill involving a drill and a game.
Zumba Kids- ages 7 & up All we need is a beat!
Grab your friends and move like no one is watching. Zumba kids is the dance-fitness party where we play it loud and rock with friends to our own rules. Each week we will learn a new dance from different countries all over the world plus play some fun games.
WHEN: June 3-26, Mondays & Wednesdays, 2:30-3:30pm
WHERE: HERC Activity Room
FEE: $60 for four week session or $10 Drop-In fee
Congrats to "Team Bumpalicious" from Juneau, Alaska for wining the 2024 one day City of Homer Community Recreation Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament! There was a total of 8 teams, 29 games and lots of competitive action form players from Homer, Anchorage, Juneau, Kenai, Soldotna and Nikiski. We hope to see you all next year.
Join us for a friendly intermediate dance class where we will take a deeper dive into salsa dance fundamentals. Whether you come alone or with a partner, you're welcome to be part of the group. We will be building on foundational skills, introducing new concepts & steps, right/left turns and the cross body lead, Participants 7th grade & up.

This is a new Drop In Competitive Pickleball opportunity for participants ages 13 & up who have the expectation of pickleball playing skill level of 4.0+ If you have an questions please contact Lin at 907-299-7778

FEE: $5 adults & $3/youth
Drop in/Pick up volleyball! Learn elements of the game such as positions on the court and basic skills including set, bump, and spike. Good sportsmanship and separate clean indoor shoes are required.
WHEN: Sundays. 6:30-8:30pm, Tuesday & Thursday, 6:30-8:30pm (MAY only), 5-7pm (JUN-JULY)

FEE: $5/drop in, punch card or membership for adults, FREE for incoming 7th-12th grade students

Evening Pick Up Basketball
Games are pick-up and called by the players. Good sportsmanship and clean indoor shoes are required. Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm at Homer Middle.
This is a fun indoor activity is the fastest growing sport in the country! For participants ages 13 and up.
Drop in pickleball opportunities for players who are rated 2.5-3.5 skill level.

FEE: $5/adult $3/youth (7th-12th grade)
The Sports Gear Lending Program is provided to allow community members to borrow sporting goods and recreational equipment from the Community Recreation Program and the Homer Public Library. There is a limited quantity and selection of items but the intent is to encourage community members to get outside to play and recreate.
Games are pick-up and called by the players. Good sportsmanship and clean indoor shoes is a must.

This class is for all skill levels. New beginner players can start attending classes during the first two weeks per calendar month. This is an on-going drop in class. Homer Cuong Nhu came to the United States in 1971 from Vietnam where it was founded by O’Sensei Ngo Dong and draws influence from 7 traditional styles of martial arts.
