The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has announced that the City of Homer has again received GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the FY24/25 Budget. The award represents a significant achievement, reflecting the Governing Body and Staff commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

This is the third consecutive distinguished budget award for the City. We also received the award for the FY20/21 and FY22/23 budgets.  The City of Homer is proud of our dedicated Finance staff, working with the City Manager and City Council, for earning this distinction.

To receive this award the City has satisfied nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. A budget document must be rated as proficient in four categories and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award. The four categories are designed to assess how the City’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

Congratulations to the City of Homer and our hard working Finance Team for this accomplishment.
