Who qualifies?

City residents 18 + years. 

 

How do I apply?

The application for FREE Fluid Removal/disposal is available on-line and at the Planning and Zoning Office, City Hall, 491 E. Pioneer Avenue.  Submit your application, in person to the Planning and Zoning Office.  Bring your ID and one of the following items:  voter registration card, city water bill, or HEA bill so that city residency can be verified.  Only then will the City certify your voucher for a FREE Fluid Removal/disposal. 

 

What’s the voucher?

The voucher qualifies one passenger vehicle, a van or pickup to be drained of hazardous fluids at a Moore & Moore Services at 3900 Sterling Highway, up Baycrest Hill, just past the landfill.  (on the corner between two flashing 45mph signs) Moore & Moore Services will then disposal of the vehicle at the Baycrest landfill.

 

What if I lose the voucher?

Oops. No replacement vouchers will be issued.  Only one voucher per city resident (18+years).    The voucher must be presented to Moore & Moore Services.

 

When does my voucher expire?

If you haven’t used your voucher within two weeks, it will expire.   This allows the City to transfer the voucher to another city resident.

 

How is city residency verified?

Homer City residency is verified with you voter registration card, City of Homer water bill, or HEA bill to verify your physical address..

 

What if I’m not a City of Homer resident?

You must be a City of Homer resident (18+ years) to qualify for one FREE fluid drain/disposal.

 

What if I have more than one (1) junk vehicle?

Only one voucher per city resident. 

 

What if I need a tow?

This program does NOT cover the cost of towing.  For $50.00 plus tax, Moore & Moore Services will tow your from within the City limits.  You must call Moore & Moore Services in advance to schedule an appointment and pay Moore & Moore directly prior to towing service. Voucher must also be presented prior to towing. 235-8837, M-F.

 

 

When can I drop off my vehicle at Moore & Moore Services?

Call first for an appointment, 235-8837. Mon-Fri. from 8:30m-4:00pm. 

 

What if I have a large vehicle like a school bus or RV?

The $50 plus tax towing fee is for passenger vehicles, vans or pickups only. Larger vehicle towing rates will be quoted individually. You will be required to pay the difference between the price to drain fluids from a passenger vehicle to the price to drain fluids from your large vehicle.   

 

Do I need the vehicle title?

No.  If you have the title, great, it helps DMV to remove the vehicle from the state records.

No.  If you have the registration, great, it helps DMV to remove the vehicle from state records.

 

There’s a junk car on my property, but I don’t know who owns it?

You take full responsibility and assume fill liability for vehicle being delivered to Moore & Moore Services or towed by Moore & Moore Services.  The City of Homer and Moore & Moore Services do not accept any responsibility or liability for disposing of the vehicle.  

 

What if my junk car is full of trash?

All trash must be removed from the car. Moore & Moore Services reserves the right to deny acceptance of vehicles containing trash.

 

When does my voucher expire?

The City Council appropriated $15,000 for this program.  When the funds are used up, the Junk Car Removal program expires. Vouchers expire 2 weeks from the date they are issued. Number of vouchers is limited to funding.
